Hello My SparKly FriEnDs!!

After over a year of telling myself I am "going to"

start making tags,

I actually made some last night

and boy do I feel like I have

accomplished something!

I didn't just wake up one morning and say

"I HAVE to make some tags"...

My inspiration to get busy came from

a new group I just joined-

Jingle Bellas.

Jingle Bellas is a new group

who's mission is to help us

"procrastinating crafters"

to build up our holiday stash by

completing several "challenges" per month which,

when completed will get you on the ball and ready for this coming christmas which is only 342 days away!

Last night I started out making like 5 tags, and then FORCED myself just do a bunch more since I had already trashed the kitchen and crated the dogs so they couldn't lick the floor which was covered in glitter.

I ended up with 22 tags, and more importantly

a sense of accomplishment and

one baby step toward being the

UBER ORGANIZED NON PROCRASTINATING CRAFTER....

a title which... um... I have really been procrastinating doing anything about!

So there you have it!

And of course there is plenty of

PINK

A Fairy Joke and Pink Saturday Wishes

Hello My Sparkly Friends!

I am in a funny kinda mood and so here is my funny

Fairy Joke!!!

40 years of marriage..

A married couple in their early 60s were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary in a quiet, romantic little restaurant. Suddenly, a tiny yet beautiful fairy appeared on their table. She said, 'For being such an exemplary married couple and for being loving to each other for all this time, I will grant you each a wish.'

The wife answered, 'Oh, I want to travel around the world with my darling husband.' The fairy waved her magic wand and poof! ... two tickets for the Queen Mary II appeared in her hands.

The husband thought for a moment: 'Well, this is all very romantic, but an opportunity like this will never come again. I'm sorry my love, but my wish is to have a wife 30 years younger than me.'

The wife and the fairy were deeply disappointed, but a wish is a wish. So the fairy waved her magic wand,and poof! ... the husband became 92 years old!

The moral of this story:

Men who are ungrateful so and so's should remember fairies are female.....

Hello my sparkly friends!

Happy New Year and Happy pink Saturday :)

I would like to thank all of you for your heartfelt sympathy and comments on the passing of my mom.

I am trying to feel better each day.

My bit'o'pink today is a picture of my sweet doggies

Sorcha and Skye.

Oh how they love to snuggle with me on my bed, and I have been letting them do that a lot lately because they make me feel so loved!

Sorcha loves this yellow ball we call her "gumball". She falls asleep with it. I guess the "Pink Saturday part is her tongue!

Today I saw my old perfume "Ciara" at CVS and bought some to bring me back to a happy time. I think I was 17 when I wore it.

I opened it and YOW that stuff is STRONG!!

I don't know how I could stand being with me!!

Anyway my lovlies, the ball just dropped and I guess I am getting old cause I wanna go to sleepies!

Hello my Sparkly Friends

I am very sad today.

I just found out my mom passed away yesterday.

Nobody told me

I found out this morning when Ashley called me from Austria

to see how I was.

When I asked her what she meant, she told me my mom had passed away yesterday.

I don't know what hurts more...

the loss ...

or the feeling of betrayal from my brother and sister.

Or telling the feelings "that I should have called more

and put away my feelings of abandonment (I was adopted)

and reached out more and told my fear of getting close because she would leave me again" to "Just Shut Up".

I guess the reason for me writing this is for those you out there- my sparkly friends- that might be holding back love because of fear.

Fear of rejection

Fear of More Loss

Fear of abandonment...

you get the picture.

Stop holding back because eventually

there wont be a

tomorrow...

loving more won't be a possibility

that window will close.

Death gives us a great perspective on what kind of people we have been being up till now,

and a chance to start acting like the people we want to be.

My mom's name was Jan. She had me when she was 17 and my sister was already 14 months old.

My adoptive parents wanted to adopt my sister too, but my mom said no.

I lived my entire life with this "vision" of my "real mom".

Don't get me wrong,

I very much loved my adoptive parents- they were my parents, but I always had this longing to connect with the person who had given me my quirky personality and my blonde hair.

When I was 35, I was reunited with her- my mom Jan at last.

I found out where my artistic abilities came from, my "bucking authority", my stubbornness, my love of animals, the great outdoors, my long legs, blonde hair and blue eyes as well. I found out that when I was first born, she had to pretend that she was keeping me and so for 8 days in the hospital she had to feed me and hold me- all the while knowing that she had to give me up.

Um, I think today they call that BONDING- and I guess we bonded which is why I had always felt a missing piece of me was out there even though I had loving adoptive parents.

She told me "Sometimes I would hold you and tell you that Don't worry I will come back to get you"...

Those words pierced my memory... like a distant familiar echo- I somewhat remembered deep in my heart her saying that.

Then, 35 years later I found myself sitting in her living room in Florida, watching Maury Povich or some show like that- looking in the audience for her...

and she was doing the same thing!

We looked at each other and started laughing that we didn't have to look for each other in talk show audiences anymore!!

So far this story sounds like a great happy ending.

Here is where my stupid fear of abandonment came pounding up my walkway and barreled down my door.

You see, my mom had a big drinking problem and as happy as I was to finally meet her, I was also scared to get too close because I would lose her again.

That my sparkly friends is the mistake I am talking about.

I wasn't able to get myself to regularly keep in touch. I didn't act like a great caring daughter.

I probably hurt her a lot by not regularly calling.

My fear took over and sometimes months passed before I would call her.

It was a lot to process and

I took the easy way out-

I procrastinated.

I avoided...

Now I can't do that anymore because she is no longer available.

I guess the whole point about writing this post is so you don't make the same mistakes I just made.

Don't be selfish with your love and by that I mean don't hold it back cause you fear getting hurt- that's just plain selfish and I can only see that now that I have made my own bed.

Feeling like I do right now is a lot worse than any hurt from "perceived loss".

Christmas is just 2 days away now.

Hug your family.

Hug your neighbors.

Hug your enemies.

Keep in touch.

I just don't know how Jesus did it all the time...

I wish I could be just a tiny bit like Him.

I guess that means forgiving my brother and sister... quite literally.

Could you please pray for me to have my heart open to forgive?

Cause right now my ego is really mad at what they did.

I don't want it to win

I want love to win

but it is really hard to stay open

when I am so used to staying shut.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas my sparkly friends...

I think I burned off my fingerprints with my gluegun this week! You see, I have my last craft show this weekend, and last week I posted a bunch of my trees on Ebay. I didn't expect it, but I sold nearly all of them, and now this week was spent making more.

Here is a pic of my room for the show, it is in a Historic mansion called Deepwells in St. James.

All of the craftspeople are spread out throughout the mansion, and i have my very own room!

She is 9 years Old and loves all things sparkly.

I hope she didn't think we forgot about her!

How Sweet the Sound!!!

AMAZING

Pink Pixie

COCONUT MACAROONS!!!

This is actually the recipe from the back of Baker's Angel Flake,

but it is soooo good and easy peasy!

Enjoy!!!

1 (14 ounce) package sweetened coconut (5 1/3 cups)
2/3 cup sugar
6 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 egg whites
1 teaspoon almond extract
Few drops of red food color optional

Change Measurements: US | Metric

Directions:

Prep Time: 10 mins

Total Time: 30 mins

1Mix coconut, sugar, flour and salt in a large bowl. Stir in egg whites (not whipped) and almond extract until well blended. Drop by tablespoonful onto greased and floured cookie sheets.
2Bake 325F for 20 minutes or until edges of cookies are golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheets to wire racks. Cool completely.

Halloween Lawn Ghosts!

Hello My Sparkly Friends!

Here is a fun outdoor decoration to make

which will

have your neighbors

talking for weeks!

They are super easy peasy to make...

Just get yourself some:

Cheap Plastic Drop Cloths

White paper, newspaper

or even leaves to stuff the heads

6 or 8 Lengths of rebar- 3 to 4 feet high

Clear packing tape

a bunch of older outdoor white

Christmas Lights with a long extension cord

HOW TO ASSEMBLE

1. Hammer your rebar into the ground

in a circle formation

2. Cut lengths of drop cloth double the height you want your ghosts

3. Form the head by balling up paper. When you have a large enough ball place in center of stretched out dropcloth section.

4. Gather the drop cloth and cover the paper forming a head, almost as if you were covering a lollypop

5. Place "head" of rebar and wrap packing tape around plastic to form neck.

6. Randomly cut up from the bottom of the plastic to form ribbons

7. Gather at the waist area and tape again

Your ghosts should now look like armless

lollypop dolls at this point.

8. Cut several long strips of dropcloth to form arms.

These are crisscrossed and tied arround chest area, then each "hand end" is knotted to the next ghost's "hand end" to look like they are holding hands.

9. Place your heap of lights on the center and plug in!

You can keep these up thru Christmas-

Just add wings and string the lights around them

and they

become

Angels!!!

Just don't forget the aluminum foil halos:)

Hello My Sparkly Friends!

Happy Columbus day!

I am in Napa Valley on a Vine-cation

with my hubs and his sis and her hubs.

We flew in on Saturday, and have been sight-drinking seeing non stop since we got here.

I am finally feeling better...

note to self: Never have your Thyroid Medication

changed right before you go away on vacation!!!

My doc switched me from Synthroid to Armour

and my eyes were swollen almost shut and

my feet blew up so bad I had

CANKLES for the first time in my life!

I was miserably tired.

I finally googled my symptoms with Thyroid and

found that many people are allergic to Armour Thyroid meds.

Now I am back on Synthroid and Cytomel.

If you ever have the same problems and are taking Armour, get off it right away!!!

Here is a Winery built to look like a castle. It was so pretty... and impressive.

The wine?? Not so much, but the tour was fun!

So far we have been to Sterling- Very nice, great tour

Mondavi- Excellent Tour, exquisite tasting, Great wine!

Charle Krug- Great tasting!!!Great Wine!!!

Franciscan-Ok tasting, Nice Wine.

And now i am having a blackout.... hee hee- possibl;y wine induced!

Tomorrow is the Wine train, I will tell you all about it!

This is the second Pink Saturday of Breast cancer Awareness month,

and today I bought myself a

Pink Key!

So you may be wondering-

"Hey Tobi... Why the Potty mouth??"

Please excuse me Gentle readers, as

the term

"Fat Ass Fudge"

is actually the name of this totally

amazingly delicious

FUDGE!

I assure you that one bite will have you

HOOKED,

which will result in you eating massive quantities of the stuff,

Which will then result in...

You guessed it...

BIG

FAT

Tushy!

I met the owner,

Donna

at my local

Whole Foods the other day,

and I guess I was

drawn in by the naughtyness of it all.

well, that-

and the fact that anything called

FUDGE

has my vote and is always

worthy of a tasting.

So taste I did,

and as the lovely

Donna

performed a stand-up comedy schpeel

about her fudge,

which had me rolling on the floor-

when all I really wanted to tell her was

"Donna, my dear-

You had me at "Fat Ass"

but alas ,

my mouth was full

of the most delightfully smooth

Fat Ass sweetness one could imagine.

So I bought a chunk

and went to the parking lot

like a

weird food junkie

and ate my chunk of

F_A Fudge

in my car....

all alone...

that sounds like a problem-

Didn't I hear somewhere

that you should never eat

Fudge

Alone??

Oh nevermind, I think that is

drinking that we are not supposed to do alone.

Breast cancer Awareness- What Pink Saturday is all About This Month

Hello my Sparkly Friends,

I have been procrastinating like mad today.

Why? you may ask.

Because we have to write about

Cancer Awareness

today

and

I really Hate Cancer.

I hate thinking about it.

I hate writing about it.

When it comes to cancer, I am an emotional Ostrich

with my

head in the sand.

Maybe if I pretend it's not there it will just

go away.

It makes me think of watching my parents succumb to it,

and I feel guilty.

And I feel sad

because

I hate when people leave.

I feel guilty cause I wish I had made

better use of our time together.

But I was too busy trying to pretend there was nothing wrong.

What a Dummy.

Thank heavens the rest of the world isn't like me

when it comes to

cancer.

That's what Cancer Awareness

is all about-

getting our heads

out of the sand

and

doing something about it.

Talking about it.

Raising money to fund more research.

And stop procrastinating

and

Blogging about it...

Even if it

hurts

real

bad.

9/11 Let Us Never Forget

Good Day my SpaRkLy FriEnDs!

So sorry for the late hour of this post. Today is a day that sits deep in my heart, a day that sits deep inside all of us.

I woke early this morning and did my labyrinth tidying ritual... carefully raking the fallen leaves and twigs from the stones, symbolically envisioning the labyrinth to be my life, and the leaves to be any unwanted things that I don't want to let into my life.

I wanted the labyrinth (and my mind) clean so I could fully honor all those precious souls.

I then placed my New York City crystal on a log.

Ashley had given it to me because it was way too heavy to take to Austria. It still had the twin towers in it.

I then lit a small healing fire in the fire pit, and prayed and meditated and tried to keep my heart from breaking all over again.

Was it really 9 years ago that I watched the towers crumble, standing there on the corner of 21st street and 6th avenue.

My little Makeup Shop was on 21st Street.

If any of you are interested to hear of what it was like to be in NYC when it all happened, well here was my experience.

Father Mychal Judge

Before I start, I just wanted to share my feeling about how incredible it was that Father Mychal Judge was victim number 0001. I picture his gentle soul helping all of the frightened and confused souls find the LIGHT. Can you imagine what heavenly confusion it must have been to have all of those souls pass at once? I truly believe Father Judge was using his heavenly guidance that day.

It was one of the thoughts that kept me going and kept me remembering that

God has a plan

even though we might not understand

or see it right away.

As soon as the first plane hit, I had a strong feeling in my heart that it was no accident. The second plane confirmed my feeling.

Being in the city that weekend was totally surreal.

Up where I was nobody was outwardly panicking yet, and I went straight into survival mode while everyone was still reeling from the shock. I went quickly to the market and bought armloads of food to bring back to the shop. I didn't know if the city would be totally shut down, and I wanted to be able to lock myself into the shop, shut off the lights and hope that major looting wouldn't start.

I figured if it did, I wouldn't be first on the list because really-

how many people need makeup to survive?

(Not including Celebrities!)

So I locked myself inside.

While I waited for Ashley,

I just sat in the dark,

in my little Makeup Shop.

I wondered what would happen next.

More tragedies?

More attacks?

While I sat,

I wondered what would happen to

me?

I honestly thought that my business would be over because of all of this.

How would I take care of Ashley

if my business closed?

I mean, I love makeup and everything, but it is pretty trivial compared to what had just happened.

As it turned out,

I was really wrong.

September 11th

turned out to be a huge wake up call for many people all over the world...

"It can all end in a blink of the eye-

start doing what you love,

and never

take even a second

of your

PRECIOUS LIFE

for granted".

Amidst the horror of it all,

we were given a

blessing...

a second chance of sorts.

An opportunity to STOP wasting our time

COMPLAINING,

and

GET BUSY

LIVING.

I think that is the single most important way

for us

to honor all of those souls

so that a little good can actually come out of such

heartbreak.

And, as promised-
